The 68th Venice Film Festival took place at Plazzo del Cinema in Venice, Italy. The red carpet was full of lots of Italian and American beauties in gorgeous gowns. Actor Al Pacino was presented with the Glory to the Filmmaker award on September 4th prior to his upcoming film named, Wilde Salome.
The Film Festival is home to many great films and this year among the ranks are A Dangerous Method, Mildred Pierce, and the highly anticipated, Contagion. Contagion was directed by Steven Soderberg. This star packed film pulled in Matt Damon, Kate Winslet, Jude Law, and our favorite Gwyneth Paltrow. On another note, George Clooney directed the film, The Ides of March, which is currently still in the running. Unfortunately, Madonna’s film, WE, didn’t do so well. Still love you, though, Madge.
Kate Winslet wearing a tight fit but slimming white and black number with a very unique futuristic neckline. The shoes are a good fit for the dress and the occasion. It’s not like we’re at the VMA’s.
Keira Knightly has always been a favorite. Here she is wearing a gold lace gown with a slight shoulder pucker—but not enough to be a “shoulder pad”—Everyone. knows that would be a major feux pas. This golden ensable is perfect for her and for the night, and like her dress I would hope her film is of quality.
Oscar winner, Penelope Cruz, glistened in Chopard as she received her star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. For this honorable occasion, Penelope opted to highlight her face with stunning pear shape diamonds (10 carats) and diamond pave drop earrings set in platinum and a heart shaped diamond (9 carats) eternity band set in platinum (see below). The Spanish actress, who received the 2,436th star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame wore a body hugging L’Wren Scott lace sheath dress in mauve from the Fall 2011 Ready-to-Wear Collection with black Christian Louboutin peep-toe pumps. Cruz completed her look with a L’Wren Scott clutch. Penelope was accompanied to the momentous event by family members and Johnny Depp, her co-star in “Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides.”
Cruz isn’t the only lucky gal to sport the house’s coveted bling. Not only has Chopard been the official sponsor of the Cannes Film Festival for the past 13 years, the high end jewelry label, has been draping celebrities with diamonds and magnificent gems on the red carpet for years. In fact, after dressing the Best Actress/Actor at the Oscars for the past 8 years, the jewelry house has earned the nickname “Lucky Charm Jeweler to the Stars”. One of these lucky celebrities includes Penelope Cruz, who won her Oscar in 2009, wearing Chopard diamonds. Other Oscar Winning celebrities who have chosen Chopard as their diamonds of choice during their Golden Statute win include Marion Cotillard, Kate Winslet, Helen Mirren, Charlize Theron, Hillary Swank, and Rachel Weisz.
Caroline Scheufele, Co-President and Artistic Director of Chopard, who has been surrounded with glamorous red carpet events for years, designs original pieces, for each star-suited to their personality and beauty. Caroline’s designs for the house reflect a broad spectrum of tastes and expectations, showing that her inspiration comes from the different celebrities she is dressing.

When everyone’s favorite Hogwart’s pupil, Emma Watson, recently announced that she was taking a break from her studies at Brown University to focus on her career, she was most probably referring to her burgeoning fashion career.
The Harry Potter actress, who has in the past inked deals with major fashion houses like English brand, Burberry and People Tree, took to Twitter to announce her latest role as the new face of Lancôme. Following in the footsteps of Kate Winslet, Penelope Cruz, Julia Roberts, Julia Restoin Roitfeld and Uma Thurman, Watson will be the latest Lancome ambassador. Although the product Emma will be covering has yet to be confirmed, Mario Testino will shoot Emma’s new ad campaign this upcoming month.
”We are delighted by this new collaboration with Emma, who brings a fresh spirit to Lancôme,” said Lancôme International president Youcef Nabi of his latest signing. “Thanks to her charm, romanticism and her incredible modernity, Emma Watson has become an icon of her generation,” he continued.
Aside from high-paying modeling gigs, Watson also recently lent her design eye to high-fashion designer, Alberta Feretti. The duo, who has been collaborating on a Jane Birkin-inspired organic clothing line, presented their “Pure Threads” collection this past week, which consists of summer pieces all made and packaged from eco-friendly materials. Proceeds from “Pure Threads” will go to benefit the nonprofit organization, People Tree, a charity Watson has worked with in the past, which works with manufacturing companies in developing nations to create low-impact garments.
Watson told WWD, “I believe this is a big step forward for all of the international fashion industry. But also an important step for an increased sensitivity to the problem of ecology.
